Although limited to a handful of 18 hole layouts, the qualty of the golf offered in the Queenstown area is high.
Options include:
Queenstown Golf Club (a.k.a. Kelvin Heights)
Jack's Point
Arrowtown
Millbrook Resort (27 holes from early 2010)
Frankton 9 holer
All courses are nestled amongst the mountains. For some spectacular lake views consider Kelvin Heights and Jack's Point.
For top quality courses, then Millbrook and the newer Jack's Point should be up to any test. Arrowtown and Kelvin Heights are both very good courses and you'll have a greater chance to mix with the convivial locals as well.
On this trip we were lucky enough to play two courses - Kelvin Heights and The Hills.
Kelvin Heights

The proximity to Lake Wakitipu makes Kelvin Heights a really memorable experience. You almost don't care what score you shoot when surrounded by such scenery.

The Hills
Before the inaugural Michael Hill New Zealand Open was held at just completed layout known as The Hills, the scoreboard proudly proclaimed the course record holder: None other than Michael Hill (jeweller and course owner) 99.
This was to change rapidly as European and Australasian Tour professionals descended on sleepy Arrowtown.
By the end of the week Englishman Richard Finch (now a multiple winner on the European Tour) had claimed his maiden victory. And the couse record? Peter Fowler 62

The Hills has been tastefully sculpted out of the Arrowtown landscape. One of the features are some dramatic man-made sculpures which add an extra dimension to a beautiful place.
